Learn the ins and outs of owning and operating a goat rental business

Housing Included
Start Date: May 1 (earliest) – May 23 (latest)
Commitment: Through end of July (minimum), with the potential to extend or convert to employment if it is a good match
Work Hours: 20–30 hours per week
Compensation: Housing provided, $50/week grocery stipend, $500 completion bonus
Housing: private furnished room in main house of homestead, with private bath and a screened in porch attached. Overlooks the woods and animals pens and is perfect for nature lovers’ rest and relaxation.
Location: Based in metro Atlanta, GA, with some travel to grazing sites
Perks: Gain hands-on experience, learn about targeted grazing, and enjoy some downtime to explore Atlanta
Internship Details
What You’ll Learn & Do:
Goat Care & Management: Feeding, health checks, handling, daily chores, and moving goats from job to job — all in an animal-first way
Electric Fencing & Setup: Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fencing for grazing sites
Land Management & Sustainable Agriculture: Understanding targeted grazing as a land-clearing solution
Business Operations: Learn the logistics behind running a goat grazing company, including scheduling, customer communication, and problem-solving in the field
Ideal Candidate Qualities:
Passionate about agriculture, sustainability, or animal care
Relevant area of study and desire to work in similar field after graduation
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on their feet
Able to self-start and work independently when needed, with accuracy and attention to detail
Requirements:
Must have a U.S. drivers license and clean driving record
Preference will be given to candidates with experience driving a truck and livestock trailer
Livestock or farm experience is strongly preferred
Preference given to students in agricultural-centered educational programs
Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50-60 lbs, think bale of hay!) and walk on uneven terrain
